A garbage truck fire on Sydney's M5 motorway this week caused major traffic disruption, with the westbound motorway closed for an extended period while emergency crews worked to control the fire and deal with the burning load.

Fires can develop inside the hopper or body of a garbage truck with little warning - usually these start as a lithium battery fire and then they spread. When a fire is detected, the operator can instantly activate the system from the cabin and deliver the F-500 EA suppression agent directly to the affected area. There is also the option to add in automatic activatation.
